I have just turned 65, I have made the very emotional decision to retire and close my studio doors. This week will be my last in the studio.
This has not been an easy decision, because photography has been so much more than just a job to me. For so many years, I have had the absolute privilege of meeting the most beautiful families, cuddling your precious newborn babies, watching your children grow, and capturing moments that I know will be treasured for generations.
To every family who has stood in front of my camera — thank you. Thank you for trusting me with your memories, your stories, and some of the most special moments of your lives. Your support, kindness, and friendships over the years have meant more to me than words can ever say.
Although my studio will be closing, I will still be offering a limited number of outdoor and in-home sessions, as I’m not quite ready to put my camera away completely.
As I begin this new chapter, I will also be selling studio equipment, props, backdrops, and newborn photography items. If you are starting your own photography journey, or looking to add to your studio, please feel free to message me.
I will also be offering some newborn photography training for those who would love to learn more about photographing and safely posing newborn babies.
It is hard to close such a big chapter of my life, but I leave it feeling incredibly grateful, proud, and thankful for every single family who has supported me along the way.

I absolutely love doing maternity sessions, mums are at their most beautiful. And I especially enjoy doing these sessions outside somewhere. It just adds to the natural beauty of the moment.
This session, mum loved horses, so we met out at Te Karaka at the Riverview Treks & Pinehollow Riding School, what an awesome place, if you love horses get in touch with them, they are so lovely.
They had this beautiful white horse ready for us, and she was so gentle. She knew that she was with a pregnant mum, as she gently rubbed her head on the mums tummy, it was just beautiful to witness.
I cannot say enough how much I loved doing this session, the scenery was wonderful, the whole time we were there it was really special.

"All the babies in your photos are so gorgeously perfect, not a blemish in sight, and when I look at my own little cherub I see little milk pimples everywhere, flaky skin and little scratches from her fingernails, how on earth can I go and get photos done when her skin is not so perfect?

My recent newborn session was with beautiful Grace, 2 weeks old and just starting to get a little more alert, but we got some very cute photos. She had a few little milk pimples, she looked stunning in her finished photos.

I say it all the time, but I love doing this!

I have been so spoilt with the little cherubs I have  met recently, none more so than little 3 month old Georgie.

Sweet sweet sweet!

I get a little nervous before a photo shoot, not having met the little ones before hand, to them all of a sudden this strange  woman is picking them up and putting them into different positions, there was a little bit of a concerned look on Georgie's face to start with but she came right and let me put her in a few really cute positions.
It takes time, we can't rush them into something they don't want to do, I don't have a set plan of poses or what to put them in, I just go with the flow and see what suits mum and baby. I have heaps f props but there maybe some family heirloom, piece of clothing, or anything mum would like to add to the mix, I am very open to anything, it is for you and your family after all.

I also don't really work to a strict timeline - when you book an appointment I don't expect you to turn up exactly on time, you have a baby that sleeps to their own clock, then to feed, change and clothe, pack  a bag big enough to stay a few nights!
I do tend to put aside the whole afternoon for you, the photos themselves are probably between 1 - 2 hours, but in between, mum can feed baby, change them, give them some reassuring cuddles. If its rushed, mum and baby wont be relaxed, and I can only imagine photographing an un-relaxed baby would be so hard, I have been spoilt so far.......
